Let's talk about your role. What is your job title and what do you do at Diesel Direct?

My official title is a Senior Billing Analyst and I oversee all the billing information regarding the fuel purchases and the information that you would get from the handheld devices from all branches nationwide.

What were you doing before Diesel Direct?

I was working at Jordan’s Furniture for over 18 years. At one point, I was the assistant to the buyer, I oversaw a lot of the buying and needs for the company. I was laid off due to budget cuts, which was actually a blessing in disguise because I had my twin boys around the same time so I was able to stay home and spend time with them. Once the boys got a little older, I was ready to go back to work and luckily there was a part time opportunity at Diesel Direct that was conducive to my home schedule with the kids.

What does a typical work day look like for you?

Well, I come in and the first thing that I do is enter pricing into the system. Then I would send out an email to the executive team to update them on the current pricing. After that there would be a few other triangle tasks that would involve some corrections. I process the invoices to AR who handles the collections.

How would you describe the work culture of your team?

In my team, I’m one of two people, and Karen and I work very well together. We’re close to the same age and our work ethics are so similar that it makes the entire work flow great. We’re always on the same page and it’s been a joy to be with her for 4 years. It’s great.

What’s your favorite thing about working at Diesel Direct? What is most rewarding about your role?

I just love my job, like the job itself. I love the forensic aspect of fixing things whenever a problem comes up. I love the rhythm of the job. The people here are great. Of course, like any other job or anything else in life, some days can feel stagnant but then something will always come up to challenge us. However crazy the world might be outside of work, I love knowing that I can come in here everyday and my job will be here and it’s fine.

Do you have a personal motto for the job that you live by?

"Don't stress, everything is fixable"

What has been your proudest moment?

My proudest moment in life has been having my boys. You see, they were born early and there was such a feeling of pride and accomplishment when I was able to bring them home after being in the hospital for 7 weeks. I think a lot of my multitasking skills have came from them because it’s just been ingrained in my life.

What sort of things do you like to do outside of work?

Hands down, being with my kids. I love spending time with them, getting into whatever they’re into: track, guitar, whatever. I just love being with them. Another thing, I love my guilty pleasures like general hospitals and greys anatomy.

What advice would you give to job seekers considering a career path with Diesel Direct?

Give it a try, come on abroad and see where the job can take you. This company is growing and I don't see it slowing down.
