Let’s talk about your role. Tell us what you do at Diesel Direct?
As a transportation supervisor, my job involves a lot of different things such as planning out routes, and anything pertaining to drivers and the trucks. I also assist with billing.
What were you doing before Diesel Direct?
I was a transportation supervisor at a medical supply company. I met with a lot of clients and oversaw the deliveries. Making the transition to Diesel Direct had its similarities in terms of the supervisor portion of the job but I had to learn and understand fuel in terms of loading, refinery, and prices and how those components can affect fuel.
What does a typical workday look like for you?
An average day would start with approvals and that’s where I go through all the routes to make sure that all the gallons were delivered. I help with tasks in the yard such as checking equipment and making sure everything is all set for the day. Before I leave, I wrap up with setting the routes and schedules for the drivers, and I make sure all the night guys are all set.
How would you describe the work culture of your team?
Fantastic!! Honestly, the first word that comes to mind is, supportive. I have all the help that I could ever ask for. From mechanics to all my coworkers, if there was ever any help needed, people don’t hesitate to lend their hand.
What has been your favorite thing about working at Diesel Direct? What has been most rewarding?
We’ve had a lot of new drivers come on board which has led to a shift in the culture around here. Seeing the improvement on the work ethic and moral has been motivating. The staff is great. We’re happy to have them. The most rewarding part is being able to see them grow.
What sort of things do you like to do outside of work?
I love to play golf and going to the shooting range. I also enjoy road trips and traveling whenever I can. I like to go to places like Hawaii, and Vegas. There’s a lot of places that I haven’t been to yet, but I’ve made a nice list.
What advice would you give to job seekers considering a career path at Diesel Direct?
Take advantage of the resources, learn from the people who have been here for a while. The fuel industry has a lot to learn when you first start the job, but don’t get overwhelmed! There are a lot of people who can help you out.
